Our Story
At Rich Specialty Coffee, we believe great coffee starts long before it reaches the cup.
Our journey begins in Guji, Ethiopia, where coffee is grown in the highlands of the Oromia region. Our Guji Gigesa coffee comes from the Shakisso area, where coffee is grown at elevations of approximately 1,850–2,100 meters and is cultivated from heirloom varieties.
The coffee we source is carefully selected and processed at origin. Quality cherries are separated through careful sorting and floating, helping select the dense, healthy cherries used for specialty coffee.
Depending on the lot, the coffee undergoes carefully controlled processing and fermentation before being dried on raised African beds. Natural lots are fermented in sealed tanks for seven days before being dried under shade for approximately 30 days.
This attention to detail is part of what makes coffee from this region so distinctive.
Rich Specialty Coffee was created around a simple idea:
Know your coffee. Know its origin. Appreciate the craft.
